Game plan

  1. 2

    Stage 2

Slam items and play for a win streak, giving Pebbles its AP items early. Activate 5 Riftbeast as soon as you can. Level 4 at 2-3 – don't buy XP before that.

  2. 3

    Stage 3

Level 5 at 3-2 and slow roll above 50 gold for 3-star Pebbles and Cinderling; use the Riftbeast shops to finish 3-stars instead of spending gold. Level 6 around 3-7. If the 3-stars come quickly, you can instead push levels and have 7 Riftbeast on level 7 around 3-5.

  3. 4

    Stage 4

Level 7 around 4-5 with 7 Riftbeast, then look for 3-star Krug and Scuttlecrab. Until Krug is ready, Sentinel or Scuttlecrab can tank.

  4. 5

    Stage 5

Level 8 around 5-2 and keep 7 Riftbeast. At 9 you can replace the 1-star Ravagers with Elder Dragon.

Why it works

At 5 Riftbeast, every third combat your next shop is filled with Riftbeasts – free rolls for a comp built on 1-cost 3-stars. Pebbles channels a laser on its target, dealing magic damage every second and lowering the target's Magic Resist for as long as its mana lasts, which is why it wants Blue Buff, Rabadon's Deathcap and Jeweled Gauntlet. Cinderling sends razor leaves into its target that deal physical damage and apply Burn and Wound, so it carries the AD items: Infinity Edge and Last Whisper. At 7 Riftbeast, every Riftbeast grows at the start of combat and again every 5 seconds, gaining damage, resistances, Health and Mana, so the board gets stronger the longer a fight runs. Krug at 3 stars anchors the front: when he dies, he splits into two Kruglettes that taunt enemies. Krug and Gnar add Brawler for Health, and Murkwolf and Brambleback Ravager for Omnivamp and bonus damage against low-Health targets.

When to pivot

Once you have gold for 4-costs, you can move into Riftbeast Brambleback on the same trait. With a 3-star Murkwolf, play Murkwolf and Brambleback late instead of Elder Dragon. For a fully capped board, Gromp replaces Cinderling and Elder Dragon replaces Brambleback. If Krug is contested, make Scuttlecrab the main tank.
