Stage 2
Play your strongest opener and win streak with AP items.
Blossom with
Karma and
Spellweavers works well;
LeBlanc is another good option because she can create copies of your units. A typical curve is level 4 at 2-1 and 5 at 2-5. - 3
Stage 3
Level 6 at 3-2. With an econ augment you can go to 7 before 3-3 to keep the streak going. Build toward
Spear of Shojin,
Blue Buff and
Archangel's Staff first. - 4

Why it works
Alune is the main damage: each cast rains 9 moonshards on the 3 nearest enemies for 58/88 magic damage each, and when the moon is full she drops it on the board for 2350/3600 damage split among all enemies. Patch 18.5 buffed her moonshards and attack speed, along with
Morgana,
Taric and
Soraka, which keeps AP boards competitive. Morgana curses 3 enemies so they take extra damage for every curse, and her 25% Omnivamp keeps her alive in the second row. The four
Vanguards (
Sentinel, Taric,
Rakan,
Diana) get a shield worth 30% of max HP at the start of combat and again when they drop below 50% HP, while Taric shields nearby allies when he or his paired ally gets low.
When to pivot
Unit quality matters more than the exact board here: carry and tank with whatever 4-costs you upgrade until your 5-costs arrive. If you hit
Ivern early, play him over
Morgana. For
Lux, the
Lunar version is best, but play whichever Lux you can get to 2 stars first. You can also keep Morgana as the main carry and build around her and
Alune with
Elder Dragon,
Cassiopeia and
Elise.

Tips
- Put
Alune and
Ivern in opposite back corners so a single dive can't reach both. - Pair
Taric with
Sentinel. Sentinel holds the tank items (
Warmog's Armor,
Crownguard,
Protector's Vow); you can also make Taric the tank with
Spirit Visage,
Gargoyle Stoneplate and Warmog's Armor.
Alune:
Blue Buff,
Archangel's Staff and
Jeweled Gauntlet.
Morgana:
Void Staff and
Morellonomicon, with
Hextech Gunblade as an optional third item.
Sentinel's crowd control got shorter in 18.5, but his shield is bigger, so he is still a good holder for front-line items.
